    The Cloudsplitter Gondola carries you on a 15-minute ride above Olympic ski trails and forests to the summit of Little Whiteface. From the observation deck, take in breathtaking views of Lake Placid, Lake Champlain, and the Adirondack High Peaks. The gondola is stroller and wheelchair accessible, with kids six and under riding free.

    Peninsula Nature Trails

    The Peninsula Nature Trails are open year-round for hiking, biking, or winter snowshoeing. The 0.8-mile Lake Shore Trail is a pet-friendly trail following the shoreline of Lake Placid with scenic swimming holes along the way and a small dock on the Outlet Brook dam.

  • Lake Placid Olympic Museum

    A trip to Wilmington is incomplete without exploring the world-famous Olympic sites situated in nearby Lake Placid, NY. The museum features a vast collection of Olympic medals and memorabilia, ski history artifacts, and inspiring multi-media exhibits for visitors to explore the rich history and legacy of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics. The Olympic Center is also home to the Olympic Oval with an outdoor speed skating ring (open from December to March) and two historic indoor ice rinks for a world-class Olympic skating experience.

    Situated on the Ausable River in the heart of town, Wilmington Town Beach is a wonderfully scenic spot to spend a summer day swimming, fishing, paddling, and picnicking with friends and family. This popular Adirondack Coast swimming hole features a sandy beach, a safe and shallow swimming area, a kids’ playground, beach volleyball courts, and a shaded picnic area to make the most of your beach day in Wilmington, NY. Rentals are available for watersports and, in the summer, there’s free live music every Thursday.

    Lake Placid Public Beach

    Take a day trip to Lake Placid for a refreshing swim in the crystal clear waters of Mirror Lake. Situated in the heart of downtown along the southern shoreline of Mirror Lake, Lake Placid Public Beach has a big swimming area for a summer dip, with lifeguards in the summer season. With fun diving platforms, a launch site for canoes, kayaks and SUPs, and a wide stretch of sandy beach for sunbathing and playtime, Lake Placid Beach is a favorite swimming hole near Wilmington, NY. The lake freezes over in the winter months but plenty of fun is still to be had on the Mirror Lake Toboggan Chute!
